If there is one thing I am a firm believer in, it is that everything happens for a reason. Granted, I am a firm believer in a lot of things, but this is a big one for me. In every bad situation there is some good. Either a learning experience, or maybe something is about to happen that wouldn't have originated without experiencing the bad first. And I have one very good example...
Seven years ago I started working at a farm here in Meadows of Dan, just because I enjoyed animals and had nothing else to do. This is where I met Clarence, about a year after I started working there. I didn't pay him much mind, he was known to be on the "wild" side and we didn't work in the same departments. We saw each other maybe once a day in passing. With a nod of the head and a friendly "hello", we went on about our individual days. It wasn't until Clarence started feeling sick that we saw each other more often. He did more work around the barns and was a little less "wild" than he normally was. As time went on, he started feeling worse and worse. Finally, a year later, he gave in and went to the hospital. The doctor told him what he already suspected. He had cancer. During his stay in the hospital we would text message from time to time, he was always in a good mood and handled the situation extremely well. He underwent treatments and more hospital stays, and after a year pulled out of it with a full recovery. Thank God! It wasn't until a couple of months later that we started "dating", a year later resulting in our marriage. Almost five years have gone by now, and not a day goes by that I don't thank the good Lord above that he is here with me today. We have an amazing, beautiful son together, and a life I wouldn't trade for anything!
Now to my point. Everything happens for a reason. Clarence and I both believe very strongly that had he not had cancer, I would not be here today. He also believes that it was somewhat of a wake-up call for him to settle down and not be so "wild". ;) I never in a million years imagined my life turning out this way, and never in a million years would I change it.
